Wearing a cloth mask will not protect you from COVID-19. The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 is good hygiene and public health measures like frequent hand washing, physical distancing, and staying at home if you are sick.

Wearing a cloth mask can reduce the spread of your own infectious respiratory droplets. Wearing a cloth mask in the community is recommended for periods of time when it is not possible to consistently maintain a 2-metre physical distance from others, particularly in crowded public settings, such as stores, shopping areas, and public transportation.

Cloth masks should not be worn by anyone unable to remove them without assistance, anyone who has trouble breathing, and/or children under 2 years of age.

Medical masks and N95 respirators should be reserved for healthcare workers.
